The story
A farm in St Lawrence whose earliest structures date from the fifteenth century; the property is first mentioned in 1445, when a royal licence was granted to build a dovecote. The buildings are named after the families who lived here between the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries — Langlois, Hamptonne and Syvret. The farm takes its name from Laurens Hamptonne, who bought it in 1633 and who, sixteen years later, read out the proclamation in the Royal Square that made Charles II King. By the seventeenth century the holding ran to more than 100 vergées, a large farm by island standards.
