The story
Jersey's principal theatre, on Gloucester Street in St Helier. It opened in July 1900, and Lillie Langtry — the Jersey-born actress who was one of the most famous women of her age — appeared on its stage in that first season. Badly damaged by fire in 1921 and rebuilt, it was restored for its centenary in 2000, then closed in March 2020 for a £12.7 million refurbishment and reopened in October 2025 with a renewed auditorium and better access. It hosts drama, music, comedy and the island's Christmas pantomime.
