The story
The island's airport, at St Peter, opened on 10 March 1937. Before that, aircraft landed on the sand of St Aubin's Bay at low water and the timetable followed the tide; the new airfield on the plateau ended that. Today it handles the flights to Britain and France, and the arrivals hall is the first piece of Jersey most visitors see — which is why it is in the collection. Collect it on the way in, or on the way home.
