The story
A German coastal gun battery on the common at Les Landes, built by Organisation Todt. Four turreted naval guns of 150 mm were planned for it and never delivered. Instead the battery was given four French field guns of 155 mm, captured in 1940 and shipped to Jersey early in 1941 — two placed near Corbière and two here, with all four brought together at Moltke only in 1943. One of those French guns was recovered in the 1990s and now stands at gun position four. The other three are at the bottom of the cliffs. The naval observation tower MP3 stands on the cliff nearby.
