German Occupation sites in Jersey

The German forces occupied Jersey for five years and built as if they meant to stay: gun batteries on the headlands, range-finding towers on the cliffs, an underground hospital in a St Lawrence valley, and a chain of bunkers along the five miles of St Ouen’s Bay. Most of it was too solid to remove, so the island lives with it.

The headland concrete is free to walk around at any hour. A few sites are opened and staffed by volunteers on set days, and those charge a small entry; the War Tunnels are a full museum with a ticket.
