The top of the island. St John has the northernmost point at Sorel, the highest ground at Les Platons and a cliff path that drops into Bonne Nuit Bay and climbs straight back out. It is the parish where the sea is always below you rather than beside you.

The places here are all about height and view — a fort on a headland, a valley to the sea, caves you can no longer reach — with the other Channel Islands on the horizon on a clear day.
