The story
A sheltered north-coast bay with a small granite harbour and a handful of fishing boats, wrapped in steep green hills. Above the eastern side stands La Crête Fort, built in the 1830s. Just offshore lies the rock called Le Cheval Guillaume; islanders once rowed around it on Midsummer Day for good luck in the year ahead. The name, 'good night', is said to come from sailors' wishes on leaving the bay. From the harbour the cliff path climbs east towards Giffard Bay and Bouley Bay.
