The story
The museum occupies a large German bunker on the sea wall in St Ouën's Bay, part of the Atlantic Wall. Among its exhibits is a copy of the ultimatum dropped onto Jersey from the air on 1 July 1940, demanding that white flags be flown and white crosses painted on the ground, together with the first orders posted by the occupying forces the following day. The collection is not only military: civilian objects kept and used by islanders through the Occupation make up much of it, and there is a 40-minute recorded commentary of islanders describing those years.
