The story
A corbelled passage grave, its chamber roofed by courses of stone stepped inward rather than by capstones — a beehive, in effect. It is the only one of its kind in the Channel Islands. The Société Jersiaise reported the discovery in 1923, and the chamber it found was the collapsed remains of that vault. It is thought to be among the earliest built on Jersey. No human remains were found here at all, which is one of the reasons archaeologists now question whether these monuments were built as tombs.
