Dolmens and Neolithic sites in Jersey

For its size, Jersey has an extraordinary density of Neolithic monuments. The passage graves were raised around 4000–3500 BC, before Stonehenge, by farmers who buried their dead under mounds of earth and stone and lined the entrance with granite. Some mounds have gone and the stones stand bare; La Hougue Bie kept its mound and is one of the best-preserved passage graves in Europe.

La Hougue Bie charges admission and has a museum; the rest are in fields, on headlands and beside lanes, open at all hours and free. Most are rare cards — they are easy to miss and worth the detour.
