The story
A small white cottage on the sea wall of St Ouen's Bay, halfway along the five-mile beach, with the dunes behind it and the Atlantic in front. It belongs to the National Trust for Jersey — "Le Don" is the Trust's way of saying a gift, and Hilton the family who gave it — and is let as a holiday stay, so the inside is for whoever is staying that week. From the outside it is one of the bay's landmarks: the lone white house between the towers and the surf, and a good place to stand for a west-coast sunset.
