The story
One of Jersey's historic seigneurial manors, in St Clement, with a crypt beneath the house dating from the 11th century and a medieval colombier — a round stone dovecote, once a privilege of the lord of the manor. The gardens were laid out in the 1920s by the shipping magnate Sir James Knott and are known for their herb garden, one of the largest in Britain, along with Japanese-style water gardens and a walled botanical collection.
