The story
A heathland headland on the south-west coast, high above Portelet Bay and Ouaisné, protected for its plants and insects. From the edge of the common the view drops to Portelet Bay and the small island of Île au Guerdain in the middle of it, topped by a tower built in 1808 and known as Janvrin's Tomb, after a sea captain buried there during a plague quarantine in 1721. Beyond lie the Minquiers reef and, on a clear day, the coast of Brittany.
