The story
Four naval guns of 150 mm stood on this headland, built by Krupp and dating from 1917. Three were in place by 1941 and a fourth was added later. After the Liberation the British Army took them off their platforms and discarded them at the foot of the cliffs at Les Landes, at the other end of the island — the same stretch of cliff where the guns of Battery Moltke ended up. One of the four was recovered in 1992 and returned to Noirmont Point, and in March 1998 it was lowered back onto its platform by a Chinook helicopter. The other three were left where they fell.
