South Coast: Town to Corbière

The sheltered side of Jersey, and the one most visitors see first. Start among the boats and the old abattoir at Liberty Wharf, pass the castle in the bay, and follow the sea wall round to St Aubin's harbour village. From there the coast turns wild: Noirmont's headland of German guns, the tiny island in Portelet Bay, the heath above Ouaisné, and the long curve of St Brélade's Bay with its medieval church at the end. Beyond it the cliffs hide Beauport and Petit Port before the road runs out at Corbière lighthouse. A full day on foot, or three easy half-days by bus.
