The story

St Helier's Victorian seaside quarter, a short walk east of the town centre. Its centrepiece is the Havre des Pas Bathing Pool, opened in 1895: a granite-walled tidal lido reached by a footbridge, refilled by every high tide and still swum in today. The terraces and hotels along the front recall the years when islanders and visitors came here to take the sea air. At low water the sands and rocks stretch out towards Grève d'Azette and the shipping channel into St Helier.
