The beaches and bays that make the island — and the lighthouse at the end of them.

Jersey has more coast than any island its size has a right to: wide Atlantic sand on the west, sheltered south-facing bays, deep pebble coves cut into the north cliffs, and a lighthouse on a rock that was the first in the British Isles built of concrete. This collection is the shoreline itself — the places to swim, surf, walk and simply sit.

Some are famous (St Brélade's Bay, St Ouën's Bay); some take effort (Beauport and Petit Port are reached by steep paths and have nothing at the bottom but sand); some are the fishing harbours of the north and east, Rozel and Bouley and Bonne Nuit, where the boats still go out. Every one is different, and none is more than half an hour from the next.
