The story
A Neolithic passage grave of roughly 4000 to 3250 BC, with a passage leading into a chamber that began D-shaped and was later extended into a large open rectangle. Quarrymen took many of the stones. It was first excavated in 1929 and reinvestigated between 1985 and 1990; excavation found where the missing stones had stood, and granite blocks now mark those positions. Finds included a large number of flint tools, decorated pottery and broken querns.
