The story
A north-facing sandy bay on the border of St Mary and St Ouen, guarded by more history than its size suggests. The round Grève de Lecq Tower on the beach dates from 1780, and the barracks behind it were built in the early 1800s to house British soldiers defending against a French landing; they are now cared for by the National Trust for Jersey. On the headland to the east is Le Câtel de Lecq, an Iron Age earthwork. The stream that carved the valley reaches the sea at the western end of the beach.
