Three castles, three very different days out. Mont Orgueil has watched the French coast from its rock above Gorey since the 13th century; Elizabeth Castle sits on a tidal islet in St Aubin’s Bay and is reached on foot at low water or by amphibious ferry; Grosnez is a 14th-century ruin on the cliffs of St Ouen, free and open to the wind.
The two big castles charge admission and keep opening hours; Grosnez does not. In Jersey Quest each is a stamp, and together they make a small set worth completing early — they anchor three corners of the island.
