Things to do in St Martin, Jersey

The east coast parish, facing France across twelve miles of water — which is why it holds the island's greatest castle. Mont Orgueil stood guard over Gorey harbour for six hundred years, and the Victorian breakwater at St Catherine was built for a naval war that never came.

Beyond the fortifications are two dolmens, a wooded valley, the fishing harbour at Rozel and, ten kilometres out to sea, the reef of Les Écréhous with its seals and terns.
